How We Protect Your Products at 3D Barrier Bags
We build barrier foil packaging that creates a stable environment for your products. Our multi-layer materials provide the following protection:
Moisture Vapor Barrier
Maintains low relative humidity levels inside the barrier bag.
Oxygen/Gas Barrier
Blocks oxidation and air intrusion and protects from harmful gas.
Climate
Control
Provides protection across temperatures and environments.
Electrostatic Shielding
Provides electrostatic and electromagnetic protection.
Puncture Resistance
Heavy-duty materials built to perform in tough conditions.
Additional Packaging Features
The customization options go beyond bag shape, size and quantity here at 3D Barrier Bags. Our team works with you to figure out the best ways to keep your products safe and streamline the packing and exporting process. Here are a few examples of what we offer:
Humidity Indicators
To monitor the level of humidity inside the bag, we offer 4½” screw-in indicators or cards that can be fit into our 3D Barrier Bags or flat bags.
Desiccant
Used in conjunction with barrier bags, desiccant removes and neutralizes any residual water-vapor inside the bag.
Valves, Caps, Taps
One-way degassing valves release excess air, helping to equalize pressure and improve pallet stability during storage and shipping.
Caps allow the liner or bag to be vacuumed or gas purged with intert gases such as argon or nitrogen.
Air Extraction Taps allow a vacuum to be pulled with an added attachment to help facilitate an easier process.
Clear Windows
These windows can be placed for product viewing in customs or humidity card placement. We will calculate the right amount of desiccant to cover for the potential increase in WVTR and OTR from the clear material.
Our Materials
All of our packaging options use barrier foil. Barrier foil is a multi-layered laminate (or film), including a true layer of aluminum. The individual substrate (layers) are bonded through a lamination (adhesive or extrusion) process to create a flexible material. We provide a variety of constructions but typically our finished laminates are comprised of two (duplex), three (triplex) or four (quadplex) layers.
The generic construction of finished laminates typically include substrates of Polyester, Aluminum and Polyethylene but is dependent on the application and customer requirements. The construction of our finished laminates produces a film that has the lowest water vapor and oxygen transmission rate of any flexible material.
Polyester
The outer layer has a high heat resistance and good mechanical strength that waterproofs and protects the aluminum layer.
Aluminum
This layer acts as a barrier to prevent moisture vapor, oxygen and aggressive gasses from entering the package or exiting the sealed package.
Nylon
This layer allows for a more durable material resulting in a higher tear, puncture, and tensile strength. It also facilitates the sealed packaging by holding a strong vacuum.
Polyethylene
This final layer allows the barrier foil to be heat sealed or welded into a range of shaped liners. Typically the thickest substrate of the overall laminate, the physical characteristics of the finished laminate can be altered by using different Polyethylene grades.
Polypropylene
When included in the construction of the barrier foil, it allows the packaging to be exposed to high temperatures up to 300° F.
Commitment To Quality
All our products are assembled and tested in-house under ISO 9001:2015 quality standards, ensuring every bag meets spec every time.
We use only the best materials that perform reliably in the most challenging environments. Our range includes:
QPD Listed Barrier Materials: Our own materials approved by the US Naval Labs Qualified Products Database (QPD) offer the highest standards of protection and traceability.
Additional MIL-SPEC Materials: Mil-DTL-117 flat bags and Mil-PRF-81705 packaging for electrostatic and electromagnetic protection.
FDA-Approved Materials: Food-safe barrier solutions
High-Temperature Options: Support hot-filling of products up to 300°F
Market-Leading Products: Our materials provide 44% more tensile strength and 32% more seal strength compared to other heavy-duty materials.
